CESELE AND CCS JOIN FORCES FOR A MEDICAL MISSION AT THE PINATUBO RESETTLEMENT AREA

 

Amidst the verdant backdrop of Mt. Pinatubo, the University of Makati (UMak) Center for Extension Service, Entrepreneurial and Livelihood Education (CESELE) together with the UMak College of Computer Science (CCS) conducted a medical mission – “Medical, Dental, Optical and Summer Operation Tuli” – from April 12 to 13, 2013 for the mixed Aeta community of the Pinatubo Resettlement Area located at Burgos, Baquilan, at the town of Botolan, Zambales province.

8 March 2013, Dalubhasaan ng Lunsod ng San Pablo (DLSP) Activity Area - For the fourth year in a row, University of Makati (UMak) has once again emerged as overall champion of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) Games hauling in 190 points, to convincingly beat 1st runner-up Quezon City Polytechnic University (90 points) and 2nd runner-up Taguig City University (75 points).

Heavy rains mar opening parade but excitement not dampened

 

Rain poured on Sunday afternoon March 3, 2013 at San Pablo, Laguna as athletes from various Local Colleges and Universities paraded the major streets leading to Col. Lauro Dizon National Memorial High School where the opening ceremony of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) Games 2013 was set to take place.  The ALCU Games 2013 is hosted by Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo (DLSP) from March 3 to 8, 2013

“ . . . As we begin to grow, we go from shapeless, gentle form into clearer form, putting them together with greater detail and still greater detail until we craft something dramatically different – Gain confidence with fuzz, with blur . . . it will never be perfect so we should be confident with moving into the unknown!”

 

This was the highlight of UMak President Tomas B. Lopez, Jr.’s directives to conclude the Planning Proper of the University’s Annual Program Review and Planning Conference (APRPC), and very apt for the theme “University of Makati 2013:  Designing a New Education Paradigm”.  The two-day conference was held from December 14 to 15, 2012 at remote Estrellas de Mendoza Aplaya Resort in Laiya Ibabao, San Juan, Batangas.

University of Makati (UMak): ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System) Certified

 

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification is conferred by SGS (registered in Geneva, Switzerland as Societé Générale de Surveillance) Phils., Inc, the renowned certifying body in the country, to UMak’s four administrative processes namely Admission, Registration, Release of Grades and Issuance of Transcript of Records of Students

The University was first granted the ISO 9001:2008 Certification on January 18, 2012 valid for three years until January 17, 2015.  The certification, however, is subject to passing the Surveillance Audits which UMak has successfully achieved on October 31, 2012.  UMak, along with Makati City Finance Department, Urban Development Department, and Ospital ng Makati, became one of the ISO certified Offices in the City Government of Makati.

8 MORE UMAK ACADEMIC COURSES GET THE ALCU-COA ACCREDITATION NOD

University of Makati’s (UMak) quest for academic excellence came to fruition when eight more academic programs from one college and three centers passed the Association of Local Colleges and Universities-Commission on Accreditation (ALCU-COA) evaluation after being subjected to voluntary accreditation last December 5 to 7, 2012.  The accreditation nod was announced at the December 7 closing ceremonies when the three-day survey concluded.

 

EVPCom holds 1st Executive Leadership and Planning Seminar

 

The Executive Vice President Committee (EVPCom) presented their Plans and Programs for 2013 during the very first EVPCom Executive Leadership and Planning Seminar last December 3 to 4, 2012, with the theme “EVPCom Leadership:  Empowered Towards Dynamic Changes in Designing New Educational Paradigms”.

With no less than Dr. Edita I. Chan, UMak Executive Vice President, leading the critiquing and setting the direction after each presentation, the one and a half day session proved to be very productive and inspiring for the team, in preparation for the upcoming University-wide Annual Program Review and Planning Workshop.

POAP CONDUCTS 37TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT UMAK

The Personnel Officers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (POAP) holds its 37th National Conference in Public Personnel Administration at the University of Makati (UMak) from December 5 to 7.

The organization has actively ‘engaged in the practice of personnel or human resource management (HRM)’ and conducted ‘human resource development (HRD) activities for HRM practitioners in the government bureaucracy to enhance the professional growth of government HRM practitioners and promote sound public personnel administration’ (MC 31)

UMak VPA Raymund Arcega spoke on behalf of UMak President Tomas B. Lopez, Jr. while Makati City Personnel Officer, Director Vissa Marie Aldon represented Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin S. Binay, Jr. They were among the officials who graced the conference on its first day at the Mini Theater of the University of Makati.

29 November 2012, UNIVERSITY OF MAKATI OVAL - It was a red vs. green night as defending champion De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB) Blazers blazed down fiery San Beda College (SBC) Red Booters with a 2-1 victory, to once again prove their dominance in this season’s finals of the men’s under-19 2nd MAKATI FOOTBALL CHALLENGE (MFC). 

 

CCS holds 1st ICT Research Congress

    It was a tech-oriented day at University of Makati (UMak) as the College of Computer Science (CCS) convened its first ever Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Congress, with the theme “Advancing IT Education through ICT Research” last 23 November at the UMak Main Theatre.

 

    The Congress aimed to present and showcase the research projects of IT students from various institutions in the country, increase awareness and commitment to the development and adequate utilization and applications of ICT, and strengthen the network towards delivering relevant and functional IT Education.

ADC Director Gets Elected as ALCU-AA 2012-2013 Chairman

UMak Athletic Development Center Director, Prof.Dominador B.Lera,Jr. gets elected as chairman of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) Athletic Association (AA) during the election held at Quezon City Polytechnic University last June 26.  ALCU-AA promotes sports among locally funded schools in the country.  With 33 active member schools, the association expects to increase the number of its members this year.  ALCU-AA has staged the ALCU-Games (formerly ALCULYMPICS) for four consecutive years (2009 -2012).  The host for this year's competition is Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo in Laguna.
