The Center for Community Development in Nation Building (CCDNB) is mandated to serve as a dynamic extension service arm of the University of Makati (UMak). The Center also acts as a conduit for the different departments of the University who wish to provide extension services to various adopted communities through sustainable community development programs/projects/activities.

The year 2020 is the time when the name of this Center was renamed from Center for Extension Services and Nation Building (CESNB) to Center for Community Development in Nation Building (CCDNB). In this trying time, we are challenged to be more responsive to the needs of our fellow Filipino people. As we allow ourselves to amplify the sense of communal unity or “Bayanihan”, we believe that our vision and mission will be realized through the concerted efforts of our stakeholders, partners/linkages, and beneficiaries. It is also in this light that as a team, we should introduce more innovations that will make our society to be more resilient by promoting a long-term holistic approach to sustainable development and transfer of technology as well.

Guided by our motto, we subscribe to the wisdom spared by Stephen Grellet such that “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”

Mabuhay po tayong lahat at Pagpalain po tayo ng Dakilang Lumikha!

CCDNB is a dynamic extension service arm of the University of Makati that engages every volunteer and partner individual, group, organization, or industry in order to help improve and sustain the lives of any target individual or group of people by providing technical assistance, education, skills training or entrepreneurial abilities, values formation programs and any other programs, projects or activities in order to uplift the lives of families in the communities which contributes a lot to nation-building.

The CCDNB office acts as a conduit and/or monitoring unit for the different departments of the University of Makati (UMAK) who wish to provide extension services to a particular chosen beneficiary or community. It provides guidance and technical assistance on how to properly conduct their program or activity based on what the University allows or mandates and to ensure that the services to be provided to the beneficiary or beneficiaries are related to the technical capability of the sponsoring department or they have the capacity to conduct such activity/program/project. The technical supervision provides guidance to the proponent to ensure that all guidelines, procedures, and protocols set forth by CCDNB and the University are observed to ensure that the projects and programs are within the goals, mission, or vision of the University and the proponent/s concept for sustainability and viability. However, CCDNB does not restrict any department from conducting their own, and CCDNB reserves the right to certify PPA’s that were coordinated or consulted through the center.

CCDNB also provides its own projects and programs in aid to any of its own target clientele as a result of an in-depth study on the beneficiary’s needs assessment and the capacity of the extension services unit and its partners/stakeholders (agency, company, individual, or group). It a collaborative effort from all stakeholders but it is the department’s initiative to make research, develop a program find appropriate partners as proposed during the study or upon the request of a legitimate company, group, association, or individual who wishes to partner with UMak through CCDNB subject for review and study of the same.

The department is providing simple to complex assistance or services depending on the need as seen in the study but still governed by the rules and regulation of the University of Makati through the Office of University Vice President for Student Services and Community Development, as well as the City Government of Makati.
