The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University of Makati exemplifies a cornerstone of holistic education, fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a deep understanding of the world. As a synergy of four dynamic departments—(1) Languages, (2) Mathematics and Physics, (3) Natural Sciences, and (4) Social Sciences, Philosophy, and Humanities—CLAS delivers a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) mandated General Education Courses.

As a Higher Education Institution (HEI), CLAS subscribes to the CHED Memo CMO 37, s.2012, the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) Framework. Grounded on the principles of OBE, CLAS empowers students to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to excel in their academic programs and contribute meaningfully to global society. Our dedicated pool of faculty experts facilitate cross-cultural topics that align with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), ensuring that our graduates are equipped to address the pressing challenges of our time.

Associate Professor Tessie Tapiador-Sagadraca, MA

About College Dean

Associate Professor Tessie Tapiador-Sagadraca is a Master of Arts in Education major in Social Studies graduate from the University of the Philippines Diliman and a Doctor of Philosophy candidate in Curriculum Design, Development, and Supervision from St. Paul University Manila. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education major in Communication Arts in English and minor in Social Studies from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. She has served the University of Makati as a faculty member and Chairperson of the Department of Social Sciences, Philosophy, and Humanities.

“Dean Babaylan”, to her colleagues and former students, she excels as a facilitator of learning processes, curriculum designer, educational researcher, writer, and speaker. Her international engagements consist of roles as Visiting Professor at Lingnan Normal University in China, Education Consultant for Canada’s Maple International Group, and Guest Lecturer for the Osaka Board of Educators and With The World.

Assoc. Prof. Sagadraca authored books and research papers namely Rizal the Icon, Global Science and Society, Community Journey: Building Nation, Building Hope, Citizenship Education: A Journey to Community Building, amongst others. Her research interests range through gender, women and children, curriculum, project monitoring and assessment, child labor, inclusive education, environmental justice, transnational actors, and UN SDGs.

She presented her studies internationally at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts; Kobe Art Museum in Kobe, Japan; University of California in Los Angeles; Chiang Mai University in Thailand; Lingnan Normal University in China, and locally at the University of the Philippines Diliman and Los Baños.

Assistant Professor Eden B. Rafallo

About College Secretary

Assistant Professor Eden Rafallo has a strong background in the field of sciences. She holds a Master of Arts in Innovative General Science Education and is currently pursuing a doctoral program aimed at enhancing safety and security in science laboratories. She is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

Asst. Prof. Rafallo specializes in General Chemistry, Biochemistry, and General Education courses such as Science, Technology and Society, and Mathematics, as well as other allied subjects. Her research interests mainly focus on environmental science, particularly sustainable ecosystems and the impacts of climate change. Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral program aimed at enhancing safety and security in science laboratories.

Active in community development, she is a Laudato Si Certified Environmental Trainer, sponsored by Don Bosco School of Theology. She has held leadership roles, including President of the Samahang Graduates of Bacolod Elementary School Batch 1976, where she spearheaded a “Five-Year Development Plan for Community Action Para sa Mga Magsasaka ng Bayan.” Additionally, she serves as Vice President of the Samahan ng mga Kababaihan para sa Kaunlaran, Libon, Albay Chapter, implementing programs like “Backyard Composting and Organic Farming”.

Associate Professor Leonardo N. Pasquito, DPA

About

Assistant Professor Leonardo Pasquito obtained his Doctorate in Public Administration and Master’s in Innovative Education at the University of Makati and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Santo Tomas, Legazpi. He completed coursework for a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of the Philippines Manila. He was a Private Education Student Financial Assistance Program scholar and consistently achieved Dean’s List honors.

Asst. Prof. Pasquito has presented research at Tunghai University in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific International Research Conference in Manila. He has published seven college textbooks, three high school workbooks, and four elementary books. His latest work, “People and Earth’s Ecosystem” adds to his contributions to educational literature. As a passionate educator, he taught at different colleges in the National Capital Region.

His leadership roles go further beyond academia. He is the Chairperson of the Federation of Makati Cooperatives and the Cooperative Development Council of Makati. A Cooperative Trainer accredited by the CDA, he has been invited to speak to cooperatives in the National Capital Region. He has also served as President of the Faculty at the College of Science

Assistant Professor Linber Allan C. Eugenio, MPA

About

Linber Allan Cortez Eugenio is a committed educator and pursued advanced studies. He earned his Master in Public Administration from Philippine Women’s University-Manila (PWU) in 2011. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the East-Manila (UE) in 2005

Mr. Eugenio served as college instructor at Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela City before joining UMak in 2008. He displayed his excellent managerial skills when he was designated at various administrative roles. He became the head of the Social Sciences Department in 2012 that was then under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Mr. Eugenio was appointed as Prefect of Student Activities in 2013, and served as Director of the Center for Student Cultural Affairs in 2014.

In addition to his academic roles, Mr. Eugenio is actively involved in cultural mapping research for Makati City and has presented academic research on cultural heritage mapping and community development action plan for Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City. He also actively participated in various committees for world rankings like World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2023-2024 and Times Higher Education (THE) for Asia Awards 2025. He is also part of some working committees for various affairs of the university.

Associate Professor Edesa S. Grama, MAEd

About

Associate Professor Edesa Grama is a seasoned educator with over two decades of experience in education specializing in communications courses. She holds a Master’s degree in Innovative Educational Management and has completed the academic requirements for a Doctor of Education in the same field. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education majoring in English and graduated with a Cum Laude honor. During her college years, she consistently excelled in her academics.

She has functioned as principal at two schools where she implemented innovative strategies to enhance teaching and learning environments. Aside from being an educator, she is an author who shares her insights and experiences through writing and a trusted counselor who guides others with wisdom and care. Beyond the professional setting, she is involved in organizing events and is even invited to be the host.

Assoc. Prof. Grama’s professional achievements are complemented by her interests. She enjoys gardening and craft-making which serve as creative outlets and sources of relaxation. At the heart of her life is her family, and she finds great joy in spending time with them, especially her four beloved grandchildren.

She displayed a commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and personal growth. Her experiences demonstrate her contributions to the field of education and those around her.

Assistant Professor Blanca R. Dimaunahan, MA

Assistant Professor Blanca Ramos Dimaunahan graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education major in Mathematics and earned academic units in Master of Arts in Development Education. She obtained her Master of Arts in Innovative Mathematics Education from the University of Makati.

She is currently the chair of the Department of Mathematics and Physics under the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She has been in the teaching profession for more than three decades in both private and public high schools and universities. Throughout her career, she has imparted her passion for mathematics to her students and has written several learning modules and books in Mathematics. She has held several positions in the academe where she developed and demonstrated leadership skills to her colleagues.

Her unwavering commitment to fostering a collaborative and engaging learning environment has earned her recognition among peers and students alike. As a member of various professional organizations, she collaborates with fellow educators to promote opportunities for growth, networking, and advancement.
In addition to her professional achievements, she balances her role as an educator, a devoted wife, and a mother. Her professional commitment showcases her time management skills and dedication to both her family and her career.
