Professor Donna B. Carbonilla, RPM, RPsy, EdD is a highly accomplished Registered Psychologist and Registered Psychometrician with extensive experience in the field of psychology. She is also a Certified Family Coach and Counselor, specializing in family education and counseling.

Currently serving as the Dean of the College of Science at the University of Makati, Dr. Carbonilla has had a successful career in academia for several years. She previously served as the Head of the Department of Psychology from 2015 to 2021, and as the Director of Testing and Admission Center from May 2008 to June 2011. Her contribution to the development of the UMak Admission Test, which is currently used as the University entrance test, is noteworthy. She also validated the Faculty Evaluation Instrument, which was used from 2008 until the pandemic.

Dr. Carbonilla completed her Bachelor of Science degree major in Psychology at the Far Eastern University, followed by a Master’s degree in Values Education from the University of Asia and the Pacific. She then earned her Doctorate in Educational Management at the University of Makati. Additionally, she finished a Certificate Course in Family Education from the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Early in her career, Dr. Carbonilla worked as a Psychologist in the Philippine Army for almost six years, followed by ten years as a Psychologist 2 in the Office of the Surgeon General, AFP. During her time in the military, she honed her expertise in psychological testing, assessment, and project management. She was instrumental in the development of the AFP Aptitude Test Battery (AFPATB) as Project Officer of the Construction of the AFP Aptitude Test Battery, which was used for more than two decades in the recruitment and screening of applicants aspiring to join the service until they developed a new one in 2018.

Dr. Carbonilla also has experience outside academia. She was the Managing Director of St. Mark’s Professional Consultancy and Psychological Services from 1998 to 2003. She served as a Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) member for Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication (HUSOCOM) of CHED REGION IV-A (CALABARZON) for more than a decade. As an RQAT member, she inspected psychology programs of schools applying for recognition in the area. She is also an accreditor for ALCUCOA (Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation), where she is part of the team inspecting psychology programs of local colleges and universities that aspire for accreditation in the area.

Furthermore, Dr. Carbonilla was hired several times as a Researcher-Consultant in the Development of Tests for other government entities in their admission/qualification tests for their training programs. In addition to her professional work, she also performs counseling and therapy on her free time.
