ABOUT EDERSON DE LOS TRINO TÁPIA
Ederson Delos Trino Tápia is Professor and Dean of the College of Continuing, Advanced and Professional Studies, University of Makati (CCAPS-UMak). Previously, he was Dean of the College of Governance and Public Policy in UMak from 2010-2018. He was also a Senior Lecturer in Political Science at the University of the Philippines (UP). Dean Tápia pursued his International Master in Regional Integration (IMRI) at the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, graduating with distinction (‘Dengan Cemerlang’). He did his internship and Special Studies at King’s College London at the University of London. He followed up with an MA in Philippine Studies, major in Philippine External Relations, and a doctorate in Public Administration from UP, and a PhD in Leadership (Public Management). Dr Tápia was an academic scholar at the Asia-Europe Institute and a University Scholar at UP. He also attended special courses in Leadership at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), in Tokyo, Japan, under a JICA-sponsored study grant. He has presented papers in numerous international conferences and published articles in internationally-refereed journals in the areas of Philippine government and politics, international political economy, regional integration, and Asia-Europe relations.
Professor Tápia is the Vice President and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Society for Public Administration (PSPA) and the Philippine Councilors League – Legislative Academy (PCL-LA), and sits in the Editorial Board of the Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (JATI), and the Journal of Maritime and Oceanic Studies, among others. His past and current consultancies include engagements with various organizations in the national government such as the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), Office of the President of the Philippines, the Department of National Defense, the National Security Council; numerous local governments from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and the private sector.
The College of Continuing, Advanced and Professional Studies (CCAPS) is home to UMak’s Professional and Executive education program. The programs are designed specifically for professional and anchored on the key principle that what one learns in the workplace must count as academic credits. One of the key innovations of the University of Makati, CCAPS currently administers executive and continuing professional education programs on Public Administration and Governance, Business, Education and Information Technology. Aimed to further equip professionals with skills, knowledge and competencies to further develop their career and make them innovative in their respective workplaces, CCAPS offers modular programs that are readily-applicable in the students current work environment.
