Celebrating Creativity: IAD Film students win 3rd place at IPOPHL’s digital poster contest
Besting 17 entries from various universities and colleges in the country, a group of 3rd year Bachelor of Multimedia Arts (Film) students won 2nd runner-up in the Best Ad category at the recently concluded IP CIRCLE League: Festival of Stories organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) on November 25, 2024, at the University of the Philippines BGC in Taguig City.
“The Ad,” a digital poster-making contest designed to promote intellectual property (IP) advocacy through the lens of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The participants are tasked with creating compelling visual campaigns that aspire to advance the cause of IP protection and enforcement.
The talented multimedia artists behind the winning digital poster include Angeline Alayon, Ian Angelo Dawal, Jann Maryel Navalta, Sean Ervin Quiñones, Kevin Art Trampe, Jose Salonga, Clare Allen Micarte, Czar Janden Mayor, Chrysler Belmonte, and Jennelyn Gregorio. The award was presented to Atty. Eduard M. Riparip, their professor, who accepted it on behalf of the students.
Meanwhile, the class of 1B-BMMA joined the short filmmaking contest also organized by the IPOPHL with their entry “CTRL+C” directed by Camryn Cuartero and Cedrix Aquino. The short film tells a story of a corrupt company that hires talented artists only to steal their creations.
The students’ artworks reflect the University of Makati and the Institute of Arts and Design’s (IAD) commitment to promoting intellectual property awareness within the UMak community. The university aims to cultivate a culture of respect for intellectual property, empowering students to become informed advocates in their fields.
