PROFILE OF THE DEAN

VIRGILIO BULAN TABBU obtained his Master of Arts in Education Major in Administration and Supervision and currently completing his Doctor of Education of major in Innovative Education Management at the University of Makati. He finished his Bachelor  in Secondary Education Major in Social Science  at Pangasinan State University. He has been coordinator at the Community  Service Program of the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS). He served as a College Secretary of the Center of Human Kinesthetics for one Academic year.  He also served as a member of the Technical Working Group (TWG) in modeling the implementation of the Senior High School of the K to 12 Program in the University of Makati.  And subsequently designated as the Department Head for Academic, Sports and Arts of the Higher School ng UMak (HSU) during the first year of Implementation in 2012. He is a member of the Clean Cities Makati Coalition (CCMC), an advocacy group of professionals from various sectors committed to address underlying issues  on climate change. For  5 years, (2013-2018), he has been the Executive Director of the Design Center for Nation Building, which is now known as the CENTER FOR NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM,  the seat of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) as well  as the Youth Development Program(YDP) and Safety Management Training Program (SMTP), an alternative and elective courses for grade 11 and 12 of the Higher School at the University of Makati. He was formerly called as the Dean for the Ofice of Student Life,  the office  that provides student-centered  activities and services in support of academic instruction intended to facilitate holistic student development for active involvement  as a responsible citizens and future leaders. At present he holds the position of the Executive Director of the Center for National Service Training Program concurrent with the Vice President for Student Services and Community Development.

WHO WE ARE

 

NSTP is designed to enhance the civic consciousness of students by developing the value and commitment for the welfare and betterment of the lives of all members of the community. It also aims to strengthen the students’ participation in the program and activities intended to uplift the different dimensions of development.  NSTP1 programs are consist of seven (7) dimensions, namely: a) Safety and Security; b) Education; c) Recreation; d) Values Formation and Moral Recovery; e) Industry and Entrepreneurship; f) Care for Health; and g) Environmental Awareness.  The NSTP2 (Community Immersion) is intended for community exposure and for implementation of community plans and projects which will develop the student’s value of volunteerism, commitment and resourcefulness.  

Furthermore, both NSTP 1 and 2 are committed to imbibe good citizenship values of being maka-Diyos, makatao, maka-kalikasan, and maka-bansa.

Core Values

               The core values of NSTP enumerated below were based on the promotion of Filipino values embodied in the Preamble of the 1987 Constitution.

Maka-Diyos is the value of Filipinos that shows their faith in God who is their source of perseverance and courage in facing obstacles in life. As a core value, NSTP is committed to instill to the students the essence of spiritual life in nation building.

Makatao is the value of Filipinos in the promotion and practice of truth, justice, freedom, equality, and peace. These are the adopted by the NSTP to enhance and/or develop among students the importance of responsibility and commitment, respect of people’s culture, community spirit, compassion, unity and vigilance.

Maka-Kalikasan is the concern and love for the environment which specifically concern with the conservation and development of the nation’s patrimony. As a core value in the NSTP curriculum, students are encouraged to help green the Land, clean the Air, and freshen the Water (LAW).

Maka-bansa is the Filipino values which emphasis is on respect for law, the government of the Republic of the Philippines and its instrumentalities, patriotism, promotion of the common good, and building a just and humane society. As an NSTP core value, students are encouraged to promote and practice fairness, love of country and respect for human dignity, and obedience to the law.
