UMak, the Country’s 2nd Local University ITSO Partner: Towards a Strong Intellectual Property Initiative

The University of Makati (UMak) joined the more than 90 higher education institutions in the country in a comprehensive training initiated by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines for its Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) partners last July 3, 2024, at the IPOPHL Multi-purpose Hall in Taguig City.

UMak established its own ITSO to uphold its commitment to value and protect the intellectual creations of its employees and students. Recognizing the crucial role of intellectual property in fostering innovation, UMak ITSO is dedicated to create an environment where new ideas can thrive.

By understanding the nuances of patent searching and drafting, the UMak ITSO team can assist inventors and innovators within the academic community.

According to IPOPHL, UMak is its second local university ITSO partner in the Philippines following Quezon City University.

This included a detailed exploration of patent searching intricacies, patent claims drafting, and the patent filing processes.
