University of Makati School of Law participated in The elimination round for The Annual 32nd UP PI Sigma Fraternity Open Debate Tournament which was held at the National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP NCPAG) Case Room last September 27 from 9:30 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon.

The match had different schedules and topics whereas the University of Makati “HERON”’s  Topic A, was on the opposite side and their debate proposition was “Resolved: That the Good Conduct Time Allowance be Repealed.”  The debaters were Angelo Dolojan as 1st speaker, Jerrom Abainza as 2nd speaker and Lee Derek Lozares as the scribe who also won in  Elimination Round Match. University of Makati Topic B who was in the affirmative side and their debate proposition was “Resolved: That the Philippine Government Station Naval Ships in The Country’s Seas To Prevent Foreign Ships From Entering Illegally.” which the defenders were Glenn Will Egano as 1st speaker, Oscar Catolico as 2nd speaker and Freyja Castañar as scribe.




 University of Makati School of Law joined the celebration of the Annual National Law Week 2019 with the theme of “Justice Bills, not Justice Tiis” last September 16-22. This celebration highlighted the importance of the legal profession for public goods. An appreciation to all lawyers and law students who did their fundamental roles like the one who protect human rights, rule of law and access to justice.

As part of the celebration, the University of Makati prepared activities for the whole week which aim to foster a better understanding of the roles of the law and justice in our society.  The activities conducted were, The Opening Ceremony which was held last September 16 at the University Cafeteria, (SOL) School of Law Townhall Debate for all the scholars of the University- held on September 17 at the  Moot Court, Bar ops and Quiz Bee was held at the Multimedia Room last September 18. On the third day of the week, there were two activities which were SOL Conflicts of Law at seven (7) in the morning in University Volleyball Court and the Faculty Students’ Playoffs which was held in the University Basketball court at six (6) in the evening. The last activity that happened during the Celebration of National Law Week was the  Fellowship Night that was held last September 20 at seven (7) in the evening in University Cafeteria 11th Floor.






























The University of Makati School of Law celebrated the Annual Conference on Contemporary Issues in Technology Law last October 22 from nine (9) in the morning until twelve (12) noon. This was held in the Health and Physical Science Building Multimedia Room 1012. 

The main objective of this event was to enlighten the law students on how technology is changing the various aspects of legal practice and public policy. The speaker for this event came from all over Asia and discussed different topics that can serve as an eye-opener to the law students. These speakers include Ivan Lalamentik, the Founder of Startup Legal Clinic from Indonesia who discussed the topic of Legal Implications of Technology on Financial Transactions, Lovekesh Agarwal, Designated Partner of Taxortium Consultants LP from India who discussed the Technology and the Best Interest of Children in Adoption and the last speaker, Frances Nicola Mendez the Director of UMak SOL Center for Law and Technology who discussed the Blockchain and the Future of Privacy.
