Medalion

The medallion holds a profound symbolism in the institution. Crafted with meticulous care and adorned with symbols representing the university’s values, it serves as a tangible emblem of authority, wisdom, and the responsibilities entrusted to the President.

Regalia

The academic regalia symbolizes the authority and responsibilities vested in the Office of the University President. The gown is more than just a garment. Its rich fabric reflects the dignity and honor of the office and its dark blue color represents the university’s heritage.

University Mace

The mace symbolizes the University of Makati’s governing authority as a leading educational institution, transcending the tenure of individual presidents. It is a heraldic symbol that command honor, pride, and love for the University and its presence during events, together with the university key officials, implies that the proceedings have official sanction.

About the 10th UMak President

Elyxzur C. Ramos, PhD, CESE

Elyxzur C. Ramos, Ph.D. CESE, fondly known as “Prof. X,” stands at the helm of the University of Makati (UMak) as its 10th President. Under his visionary leadership and extensive experience, UMak continues to thrive as one of the premier local universities in the Philippines. His influence extends beyond the university as he serves on the Philippines’ Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) standing committee for Higher Education and Teacher Training and Development, bringing his expertise to the forefront of educational policy.

Prof. X’s tenure at UMak is a testament to his dedication and versatility. His journey through academia includes serving as the dean of multiple colleges, University Secretary, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, seamlessly preparing him for his appointment as university president.

He is a lifetime member of the Philippine Economic Society and a former Board of Director at the Association of Local Colleges and Universities. He was a CHED Technical Working Group member on the K+12 transition program and a consultant for the K to 12 Plus Project of the German Cooperation.

Beyond academia, Prof. X is distinguished as a Commander in the Philippine Navy (Reserve). He holds multifaceted roles, such as a Trained Arbitrator with the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center Incorporated, a Director of the Philippine Red Cross and the Young Men’s Christian Association, and a Fellow of the Society of Fellows in Supply Management.

Prof. X earned his BSBA in Economics and MBA from Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Manila, and his Ph.D. in Management, with distinction, from the International Academy of Management and Economics. Furthering his expertise, he completed a post-doctorate certificate in Strategic Management from the Philippine Christian University, where he also serves as a part-time lecturer in the graduate program.

Alongside his wife, Joyce, he passionately champions the values of family and marriage life. Together, they actively participate as a team couple in the Worldwide Marriage Encounter Philippines, embodying their strong commitment to nurturing family bonds and marital relationships. They are blessed with five children: Danielle Louise, Laurette Nicole, Duke Xavier, Simone Meraine, and Xian Lucas.
