Advancing Research and Global Partnerships For Societal Impact: UMak and HCU Hosted The 11th HCU National and International Academic Conference

The Huachiew Chalermprakiet University (HCU) and the University of Makati co-hosted the 11th HCU National and International Academic Conference with the theme “Research to Serve Society” last July 26 in the HCU Bang Phli Campus.

Representatives from 26 universities across Asia attended the conference and showcased a diverse array of research and academic excellence. Meanwhile, 10 delegates from UMak presented research papers which were rigorously reviewed and accepted by HCU’s peer reviewers, a testament to the dedication and adherence to quality works, and research standards.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CONFERENCE

The conference featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and research presentations; all centered around the theme “Research to Serve Society”.

Renowned scholars and industry experts delivered encouraging keynote addresses, intensifying the importance of research in driving social progress and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. Interactive panel discussions provided a platform for in-depth exploration of various topics, with participants engaging in lively debates on issues such as climate change, public health, education, and technology. The diversity of topics and perspectives enriched the academic discourse.

SDG 17: PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS

The 11th HCU National and International Academic Conference underscored the power of international partnerships to advance academic excellence and societal impact, embodying the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals and the importance of supporting young researchers.

The success of the conference set a positive example for future collaborations between UMak, HCU, and other universities in the region. The commitment in fostering research, societal service, and global partnerships will continue to drive meaningful academic and social progress, reinforcing the principles of SDG 17 and contributing to a more interconnected and collaborative global academic community.

As UMak strives to achieve its newly established vision “to be a premier globally recognized local university where integrated and sustainable quality education translates to social equity and excellence”, prioritizing partnerships and collaborations are necessary which is relevant to UMak to institutionalize the United Nations SDGs.

The 10 paper presenters from UMak are Prof. Maria Fay Nenette Cariaga, Prof. Florante Delos Santos, Prof. Markdolf Maliwat, Prof. Jefferson Marcelo, Prof. Ferdinand Piano, Prof. Henry Magat, Prof. Mark Philip Paderan, Prof. Marivic Mercado, Prof. Ma. Corazon E. Benosa, and Prof. Estela De Vera-Barasi.

Also with them are Prof. Tomasa Quiñones, Prof. Jim Carl Primo, Prof. Rosawanda Motomal, Prof. Elsa Villanueva, Prof. Francis Jerome Gutierez, Prof. Angelyn Pangilinan, and Prof. Amelia Paje.
