UMAK AND PUP: Setting the Stage for Future Initiatives in Student Affairs
In a bid to enhance student services, leadership development, and explore innovative strategies in student affairs management, the University of Makati (UMak) visited the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) for a benchmarking session last September 11.
“This is a valuable opportunity to learn from each other and adopt practices that will further enhance the welfare and development of our students,” said Center for Student Organization and Activities (CSOA) Director, Assoc. Prof. Angelito Vargas as the dialogue revolved around PUP’s successful programs in student leadership, academic support, and holistic student development.
The visit also focuses on PUP’s community engagement activities, which are integral to shaping student leaders who contribute to both the university and the wider community.
Meanwhile, PUP Office of Student Services (OSS) Director, Assoc. Prof. Jimmy Fernando, emphasized their initiatives focused on empowering students. These include promoting mental health, supporting student entrepreneurship, enhancing organizational processes, and providing comprehensive assistance for both academic and co-curricular journeys.
The benchmarking activity is a key component of UMak’s broader initiative to enhance its student affairs services and cultivate well-rounded leaders. This partnership between the two institutions is anticipated to lay the groundwork for future collaborations, aimed at continually improving the quality of student life on both campuses.
