UMak CITE Hosts “MOMENTS and Finishing Touches” Event Celebrating Pre-Service Teacher Interns

The University of Makati College of Innovative Teacher Education (UMak CITE) hosted an event titled “MOMENTS and Finishing Touches” on June 5, 2024, at the UMak Auditorium. This event celebrated the accomplishments of CITE students who had recently completed their pre-service teachers internship program.
One of the highlights of the day was a talk led by the esteemed CGCS Director, Ryan C. Villanueva, RGC, LPT, who was invited as the resource speaker. The talk focused on “Basic Counseling Techniques,” providing valuable insights into how teachers can support their students through the development of counseling micro-skills.
Villanueva also discussed alternative methods such as Psychological First Aid (PFA) and paracounseling, emphasizing their importance for teachers who are not licensed counselors but still aim to offer meaningful support to their students. His expertise provided attendees with practical strategies to implement in their classrooms, making a positive impact on their students’ lives.
Adding a layer of fun and interaction to the event, participants engaged in the game “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” between subtopics.
The program marked a significant milestone in their journey toward becoming innovative educators, equipped with the skills and knowledge to make a difference.
