UMak Dancesport Team shines at the PDSFI Quarter Ranking National Championship 2024

The University of Makati (UMak) Dancesport Team once again showcased their talent, discipline, and hard work at the Philippine DanceSport Federation, Inc. (PDSFI) Quarter Ranking National Championship 2024 held last October 19-20, 2024 at PhilSports Multi Sports Complex.

Under the guidance of Coach Kio Mae Marvida, ten students showcased their exceptional skills and represented UMak on the national dancesport stage. The University sent its representatives for the first time in the Youth and Inter High School categories, where Julian Farro clinched champion titles in both Solo Youth Waltz and Youth Tango events.

Couple champions Kayzel Ann Francisco and Russel Hapa continue their winning streak in the Intercollegiate A Standard and Grade B Standard categories who have consistently represented the UMak with excellence since they begin competing in 2021.

Meanwhile, the following students flexed their moves and secured victories in their respective dancesport categories:

 

1. Luisa Mae Calzado and Dan Bryan Astoveza

– Intercollegiate C Standard (Champion)

– Intercollegiate A Standard (3rd Place)

– Grade C Standard (4th Place)

 

2. Shaira Dyl Astoveza and Warren Sabiduria

– Grade D Latin (Champion)

– Grade C Latin (Semi-finalist)

– Intercollegiate A Latin (6th Place)

 

3. Sakura Pauline Marie Bernarte and Xai Slavik Angelo Sabalo

– Inter High School C Latin (Semi-finalist)

– Inter High School A Latin (Semi-finalist)

– Youth A Latin (6th Place)

 

4. Aaliyah Marie Balocating

– Solo Youth Waltz (2nd Place)

– Youth Tango (3rd Place)

– Youth C Standard (4th Place)

 

5. Julian Farro

– Solo Youth Waltz (Champion)

– Youth Tango (Champion)

– Youth Quickstep (3rd Place)

– Youth C Standard (3rd Place)

 

Through the Center for Athletic Development, the team has produced international and national dancesport champions since its conception.

PDSFI is the governing body for dancesport in the Philippines which is recognized by the National Olympic Committee.
