UMak welcomes Education Designers from Arizona State University
A delegation of Education Designers from the University Design Institute at Arizona State University (UDI-ASU) visited the University of Makati on November 7, 2024.
Led by Executive Director for Global Operations Joel Dupuis, Senior Manager for Higher Education Design Carlo Fernando, and Higher Education Design Specialist Maribeth Buenviaje, the visit was a step towards fostering a deeper understanding of UMak and exchanging insights on the unique contexts shaping the institution’s innovation pathways. The discussions also included aligning expectations for the USAID US-Philippines Partnership for Skills, Innovation, and Lifelong Learning (UPSKILL) program, in which UMak is a grant recipient.
Demonstrating a genuine curiosity about UMak, the delegation expressed a keen interest in exploring the University’s facilities—a request graciously accommodated by the hosts, headed by the VP for Planning and Research Maria Fay Nanette Cariaga, Center for Quality Management and Development Director Henry Magat, and Institute of Arts and Design Dean Mary Acel German.
Cariaga was instrumental in drafting UMak’s UPSKILL application, while Magat and German are members of the accelerator team, currently undergoing design and capacity-building training conducted by UDI-ASU.
