UMak, Wells Fargo, and PhilDev Partner to Inclusive, Progressive, and Supportive Academic Environment
She++ Women in Tech, a groundbreaking 3-day capability-building program to close the gender gap in the tech industry by empowering women with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to lead in the digital age was held at the University of Makati from February 5 to 7, 2025 in partnership with Philippine Development Foundation and Wells Fargo.
The workshop kicked off with a mission to foster a technopreneurial mindset and encourage women to develop essential skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Day two delved into thriving in the tech industry, challenging participants to break boundaries and defy stereotypes. The hands-on sessions emphasized design thinking, allowing attendees to tackle real-world challenges and demonstrate their leadership potential. On the final day, the workshop focused on Strategic Foresight and Technopreneurship, featuring inspiring talks and interactive skill-building activities. This transformative experience marked the start of a new era, one led by women in tech, prioritizing leadership, communication, resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
The She++ program has had a profound impact on the University of Makati, significantly contributing to the institution’s ongoing efforts to create an inclusive academic environment. By equipping students with the tools to innovate and lead, She++ has fostered a community of empowered women who are now better prepared to take on leadership roles in tech, breaking down traditional barriers and stereotypes.
As more women gain confidence in tech abilities and leadership potential, UMak is taking a step forward in shaping a more diverse and equitable future in technology. She++ not only inspired the students who participated but sparked a broader cultural shift within the university, emphasizing the importance of women’s representation in the tech industry and ensuring that UMak continues to be a space where all students can thrive, regardless of gender.
UMak remains unwavering in its commitment to empowering young students, particularly in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields.
