UMak’s Research Revolution: 50 Scopus Papers and Counting!

The University of Makati (UMak) has reached a significant milestone with 50 Scopus-indexed publications in the first month of this year marking a new era for the university, characterized by innovation, scholarly excellence, and a commitment to advancing global knowledge. It also aligns with UMak’s dedication to supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in quality education (SDG-4), innovation (SDG-9), and global partnerships (SDG-17) through impactful research.

This success is in line with the 10-point agenda of UMak President Elyxzur Ramos, which emphasizes the importance of enhancing research and publication within the university. UMak initially recorded just 16 Scopus-indexed publications in the first quarter of 2024 but tripled this number in less than a year. The milestone is more than just a numerical achievement; it reflects the growing interest and commitment to research among UMak’s faculty and students, and the improving research culture within the university, which fosters innovation, intellectual curiosity, and academic excellence.

It serves as a testament to the efforts of the Center for University Research, led by Asst. Prof. Florante Delos Santos, with the support from Vice President for Planning and Research Maria Fay Nenette Cariaga, Vice President for Academic Affairs Ederson Tapia, and UMak Research Consultants Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III and Jerico Ogaya, who have driven this accomplishment.

As UMak celebrates this success, the university now faces the challenge of sustaining its momentum. The university community is encouraged to work toward a collective goal of 100 Scopus-indexed publications by the end of 2025. With unwavering determination and united effort, UMak is poised to continue its journey toward excellence, setting a new standard for research and publication that will inspire future generations.
