University of Makati-Center for Guidance and Counseling Services Achieves 100% Passing Rate in HIV Counseling and Testing Certification Training
Makati City, June 28, 2024 – Congratulations to the new batch of health workers and community-based volunteers who achieved a 100% passing rate in the HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) Training. This rigorous program, commissioned by the Tropical Disease Foundation, Inc. under the USAID/PEPFAR-FHI360 EpIC Project and facilitated by CAMP Pag-ayo, Inc., took place at Jade Hotel and Suites in Makati City from June 25 to 28, 2024.

Special Recognition:
Representatives from UMak-CGCS – Director Villanueva, Estella Obnamia, Janella Largadas, and Elsie Bardoquillo – were mentioned for their outstanding performance. Director Villanueva was honored as the Top 4 performer of this batch. All four representatives will soon receive their DOH HIV Counseling Certification.
Training Highlights
The HCT Training covered a comprehensive range of topics, including:
– Natural Course of HIV
– HIV Modes of Transmission
– HIV Prevention and Risk Assessment
– Common STIs and their relationship with HIV
– RA 8504 & RA 11166 – HIV Laws
– Counseling skills and ethics
The successful completion of this training is a significant step in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the stigma associated with it. By equipping health workers and community-based volunteers with essential skills and knowledge, we move closer to the goals of the #ZeroStigmaPH campaign.
