“I’m a Proud Heron” PH Idol Season 2 Champion Khimo Gumatay Expresses Gratitude at Parangal 2023
March 27, 2023 – At Parangal 2023, ‘Idol’ Khimo Gumatay expressed deep gratitude to UMak Community.
He said, “Before we sing our last song, I’d like to take this opportunity to give my biggest gratitude to all the professors, to all the instructors, and also to the executives who made this University my second home. Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyo. Maraming, maraming salamat po sa serbisyo po, at sa mga wisdom po na ibinigay n’yo po sa aming mga estudyante na hanggang ngayon po, dalang-dala ko pa po sa trabaho na gustong-gusto ko….”

“At maraming, maraming salamat po sa supporta na nakuha ko po during my Idol journey dahil nakikita ko po sa internet, sa social media ng mga tao dito sa University of Makati, all out support sila during my Idol journey,” Khimo added.
Khimo, a College of Governance and Public Policy student won the Idol Philippines’ Season 2 Grand Winner last year and got invited to this year’s University’s employee recognition event.
“May natutunan po ako habang nakaupo kami diyan kanina—habang pinararangalan ‘yung lahat ng awardess natin kanina … nadala ko po ‘to [mula] noong estudyante pa po ako hanggang ngayon … we are all here because of love, and to be an instrument of love to inspire other people in many different ways. At isa po ako sa na-inspire n’yo. Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” Gumatay said.
He then exclaimed, “I’m proud to be a student of the University of Makati and I’m proud to be a Heron.”
Parangal is an annual celebratory tradition wherein the University of Makati and the City Government of Makati recognize teaching and non-teaching employees who have been serving the institution for 5+ years or up until their retirement. Also present at the event are the UMak Management Committee and Makati City Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo.
