UMak School of Law Full Scholars
Overview
Like any other legal education institution, the School of Law has its own application and admission process. The application period opens on the third (3rd) week of January or upon resumption of classes after the Christmas break, whichever is earlier. The announcement on the opening of the application period is posted on the UMAK website and the UMAK SOL official social networking page. UMAK SOL administers its own Law School Admission Test (LSAT) from the second week of February until the second week of April of every year. The schedule of exams is also posted on the UMAK website and the UMAK SOL official social networking page.

The UMAK SOL scholarship program is merit-based and academic in nature. While other criteria such as purpose or objective in pursuing law studies and financial status are also considered, academic and other relevant achievements are the primary bases of the scholarship.
Full Scholarship Benefits
The School of Law is the only legal education institution that offers full scholarships to an entire batch of students. The full scholarship includes:
- Ten Thousand Pesos (Php10,000.00) monthly stipend
- Ten Thousand Pesos (Php10,000.00) book allowance per semester
- Access to Library Subscriptions and Online Sources such as Oxford Publication, Escra, and MyLegalWhiz.

About UMAk Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
UMAk Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
Once the applicant is informed of the schedule of the UMAK LSAT, the applicant must take the exam on the appointed date and time. Prior to the pandemic, the LSAT is administered physically or face to face. Should the physical or face to face activities be allowed, the LSAT shall be administered at the School of Law located at the 5th Floor of the Health and Physical Sciences Building (HPSB) of the University of Makati (UMAK).
The UMAK LSAT is a written examination which consists of the following tests:
- Objective Type – 40%
- Logical Reasoning
- Reading Comprehension
- Analytical Reasoning.
- Subjective Type – 60%
Essay composed of three (3) categories:
- Personal questions;
- Hypothetical/Situational;
- Current Events/Issues.
The UMAK LSAT must be accomplished within four (4) hours.
Applicants who graduated with Latin Honors are exempted from taking the Subjective Type or Essay Type and shall only be required to answer the Objective Type.
The purpose of the exam is to measure the reading comprehension, logical reasoning, analytical and critical thinking skills of the applicant, as well as to gauge the applicant’s writing skills, determine the thought process and capacity to pursue the study of law. Particularly, the essay focuses on grammar, organization and coherence of thoughts, sentence construction, substance/content, penmanship, and ability to follow instructions.
An applicant must have a grade of eighty-five percent (85%) and above to pass the UMAK LSAT.

Do you accept transferees?
The acceptance of transferees shall be based on the assessment and evaluation of their academic performance and other remarkable achievements. A qualifying examination may also be required.

The number of slots for the scholarship varies every year.
Do you offer evening classes for those who have work?
Our classes are from Monday – Saturday. It could be as early as 8:30am and end as late as 9:30pm. The schedule varies every semester depending on the availability of the professors.

Is there a fee for the UMak Law School Admission Test (LSAT)?
None. Taking the LSAT is free of charge.
When is the Application Period for School of Law
The submission of exam requirements starts January 22, 2024 for Academic Year 2024-2025.
We also announce the schedule on our Facebook Page @UMakLaw. Usually, application starts in the third (3rd) week of January and LSAT exams are conducted from February to May of every year, unless extended.
Do you accept non-Makati residents?
Yes, we accept applications from non-Makati residents.
What is the mode of classes in UMak?
The UMak SOL has already started conducting face-to-face classes, but we are ready for the hyflex modality.
The Legal Education Board also issued Memorandum Order No. 30, series of 2023 to enforce a transition period for online classes to shift to hybrid mode, where at least half of total class hours must be delivered in person or face to face classes.
