A New Wave of Community Engagement Through Volunteerism
The partnership between the University of Makati (UMak) through…
CCED is a dynamic extension service arm of the University of Makati. It engages every volunteer and partner individual, group, organization or industry in order to help improve and sustain the lives of any target individual or group of people by providing technical assistance, education, skills training or entrepreneurial abilities, values formation programs and any other programs, projects or activities in order to uplift the lives of families in the communities towards nation building.
The CCED office acts as a conduit and/or monitoring unit for the different departments of the University of Makati (UMak) that wish to provide extension services to a particular chosen beneficiary or community. It provides guidance and technical assistance on how to properly conduct their program or activity based on what the University allows or mandates and to ensure that the services provided to the beneficiary or beneficiaries are related to the technical capability of the sponsoring department or if they have the capacity to conduct such activity/program/project. The technical supervision provides guidance to the proponent to ensure that all guidelines, procedures and protocols set forth by CCED and the University are observed to ensure that the projects and programs are within the goals, mission or vision of the University and the proponent/s concept for sustainability and viability. However, CCED does not restrict any department from conducting its own, and CCED reserves the right to certify Programs, Projects, and Activities’ (PPA) that were coordinated or consulted through the center.
CCED also provides its own projects and programs in aid to any of its own target clientele as a result of an in-depth study on the beneficiary’s needs assessment and the capacity of the extension services unit and its partners/stakeholders (agency, company, individual, or group). It is a collaborative effort from all stakeholders but it is the department’s initiative to make research, develop a program find appropriate partners as proposed during the study or upon the request of a legitimate company, group, association, or individual who wishes to make partnership with UMak through CCED and this endeavor is subject for review.
The department is providing simple to complex assistance or services depending on the need as seen in the study but is still governed by the rules and regulations of the University of Makati through the Office of University Vice President for Student Services and Community Development, as well as the City Government of Makati.
Envisions to mold the Community with responsible and productive citizens through sustainable development programs, projects and activities.
Engages with the various communities by utilizing the University’s technology and resources with multi-faceted skills and competence manifested by the members of the academic community imbued with the core values of CCED.
