Center for Technology-Based Learning Hub
The Center for Technology Based Learning serves as the learning management system operating hub, reporting to the university MANCOM officials, with a director on duty who manages and handles the center’s daily operations, working closely with the Office of the President, the Center for Information Technology, and the Deans and Directors to support the LMS end-users’ day-to-day activity. The center is responsible for developing policies, implementing programs, and providing digital services, as well as serving as the University of Makati’s policy-coordinating arm in the fields of digitization, digital culture, and education technology (EdTech).
The Center for Technology Based Learning was organized and operated in compliance with the provisions of Executive Committee Resolution No. 2020-079, which approved the University of Makati’s Flexible Learning Policy and was signed by the City Mayor, Honorable Mar-Len Abigail S. Binay. The center has sole authority over the administration and implementation of the shared understanding of flexible learning by introducing a framework that may serve as the fundamental basis in the observance and use of flexible learning modalities, as well as any other laws specifically assigned to it or the center director.
The Center for Technology Based Learning is committed to significantly reduce the digital divide gap by introducing new ways for policymakers, private firms and educational leaders to connect with one another and aid schools, learners, and teachers access digital technologies. This collaboration will explore manageable costs of digital solutions and strengthen technological infrastructure of the educational institution. Office Functions
The Center for Technology Based Learning has the following functions:
- Design, program and coordinate the flexible learning strategy of the University of Makati consistent with the standards and guidelines of the national government.
- Design and implement the upskills training program for the LMS end-users of the University of Makati as guided by the emerging technology that continually change the way education is delivered.
- Explore the promising opportunities of educational technology and some specific edtech tools and trends.
- Provide support as the single point of contact (SPOC) between the IT service partner and the LMS end-user by enabling them the interaction platform to communicate.
- Create reports and translate them into digestible format to assess the ongoing performance of the IT enabled tools such as but not limited to the learning management system.
- Carry out and coordinate a team of subject matter experts in different colleges to execute their tasks and common goals. They are referred to as TBL coordinators which helps their colleges in the crucial task of being productive in the learning management system of the university.
- Manage the day-to day task of the center.
