Dr. Ma. Corazon Ejercito-Benosa is no stranger to the University of Makati, having been an alumnus and one of the pioneer faculty members of the College of Computer Science, and now the Dean of the Higher School ng UMak. She served for 16 years as the Department Chair in the College of Computer Science where she established dynamic faculty development programs through the creation of various working committees such as the Research and Development Committee, IT Skills Olympics Committee, Extension Services Committee, just to name a few.
In November 2014, she was designated as the Director of the Accreditation Center which then merged and changed to be the Quality Management and Development Center. As the Director, she was in charge of facilitating the ALCUCOA Accreditation of various programs and simultaneously pursuing ISO 9001:2008 certification of the administrative processes. She was also designated as the concurrent OIC-Dean of the College of Computer Science and the Director of the QMDC in 2016. During her term, the College was conferred by the Management Committee with an Award for being the Most Research-Oriented College of the University.
Currently, as the Dean of the Higher School ng UMak (HSU), she continues to empower and motivate both the teachers and students to unwaveringly pursue excellence in both competence and character. She creates a working environment that highly values grit, gratitude and respect in the spirit of MakaDiyos, MakaBayan, MakaKalikasan, at MakaTao.
Genuine learning is achieved by applying what has been learned. Knowledge is just a mere fat and academic achievement is just a record if a learner could not make the right decision for the appropriate actions. It is the attitude, not the aptitude, which will determine the altitude. The right decision and actions are the determinants of success.
Undoubtedly, records reflect the capability to fulfill the requirement of a subject. Records signify commitment and due diligence bestowed to assigned classwork and more importantly, courtesy to the teachers. Records are indeed a valuable indicator of attitude as well.
Higher School ng UMak provides academic programs that incorporate the development of character through a series of lectures, drills and performance tests. Beyond the academic program is the establishment of a “teaching and learning” relationship between teachers and learners that value good conduct.
Consider determination and gratitude in your journey as part of the HSU Community. It will not be long when you would realize that efficient and remarkable learning transpires through the practical application of academic programs along with profound character formation.
